The course will address the following topics: 

Section I: The world economy in a long-term perspective

  • Topic 1. Economic development in the long-term: economic growth and development.
  • Topic 2. Institutional change in History

Section II: The world economy in nineteenth and twentieth centuries

  • Topic 3. The origins of modern economic growth: industrial revolution and transition to market economy
  • Topic 4. Models of economic growth in twentieth century

Section III: The world economy today

  • Topic 5. The second wave of globalization and the return of the financial crisis.
